PDQ South Injection Technologies recently announced their new 12,000 sf tool and machine shop. The new facility has been constructed adjacent to the injection molding facility in Pageland, SC.
PDQ will move its current tool shop operation from Monroe, NC to the new facility. This new tool shop will be outfitted with additional CNC equipment acquired in late 2011 when PDQ completed the asset purchase of a Lancaster, SC based tool shop. Additionally, PDQ will implement a recently purchased Makino wire EDM machine to complement and expand the tool shop and machining capabilities.
Investment in the new building will support current demand for tooling from the existing customer base and provide additional capacity to support the aggressive growth plan for new tool building projects, tool maintenance for other injection molders, and the emerging business with precision machine parts.
PDQ has been committed to a 5 year strategic plan and continues to invest in the company’s growth. In 2010 PDQ acquired a 10,000 sf warehouse building adjacent to the manufacturing facility and has purchased an additional four molding machines since 2010 in support of strategic growth.
R.T. Wallace Jr., owner of PDQ South, states “The ability to commit to the strategic plan is a testament to a strong, loyal, and committed customer base and the passion and commitment of its people. PDQ appreciates the support we have received from Chesterfield County. Kim Burch from Economic Development has been instrumental in coordinating on our behalf to ensure our growth gets the support it’s entitled to win incentives and programs for development, training, and other available resources.”
Wallace continues, “We have a solid plan for the integrated tooling and machining segments of our business. This expansion gives us additional capacity and provides the foundation we need to expand our tool building reach beyond today. It provides the opportunity to implement tool maintenance programs for other injection molders in the area; and it will maximize the capabilities of our 5-axis CNC machining in providing tight tolerance precision machine parts.”
PDQ has a unique advantage with combined tool building and manufacturing under one business roof. This provides customers a one-stop solution for design & build AND manufacture of their parts. PDQ will continue to maximize this synergistic opportunity and will also look to grow tool building revenues with prospects that already have a manufacturing partner. The ultimate plan for the tool and machine shop is to continue to support manufacturing and also provide design & build services to third party molders and support the growing demand for precision machine parts.
